Coon's Custom Cutlery

Mirror Finish Hunter w/ Buckeye Burl Scales

I made this as a graduation present for my brother Travis. I truly believe every man should have a quality knife. The full tang blade is made from 1084 High Carbon Steel and the handle is a beautiful piece of stabilized buckeye burl.  Had to hand sand to 2500 grit and then polish with a buffing wheel to get the finish I wanted. It took a lot of elbow grease and patience, but I pulled it off.

Worth every second.

Satin Finish Hunter w/ Cocobolo Scales

I made this beauty as a gift to myself. I have used it for anything and everything (can opener, wood splitter, steak knife, and of course, I've used it to shave.

The full tang blade is made from 1084 High Carbon Steel and the handles were crafted from one solid piece of cocobolo wood.

Pictured above is a custom made, thermoformed kydex sheath made to hold the knife with friction alone. A snap of the thumb and its free.

I wanted a really big knife for processing wood while I'm camping. It will split a 12" oak log no problem and still be razor sharp after.

The blade is made out of 02 Tool Steel and the handles are a custom material I made using thick canvas and fiberglass resin.

Took a long time to grind the shape of this beast on my tiny belt sander.

My First Knife

This was my first attempt at making a knife. It started out as an old file and transformed into a functional knife. It is not pretty, but it works great. I have used it to open cans, cut food, whittle and more. It was a great learning experience and made me want to continue this hobbie.

Zebrawood Tribal Hunter

This is the second knife I made, also out of an old file. knife. I gave it a lemon juice bath to obtain the dark patina on the blade.
